F250 Powerstroke Diesel

The Ford F250 Powerstroke Super Duty pickup truck was redesigned for the last time for the model year 2008. Compared to the previous generations of F250 Powerstroke Super Duty, the styling has been revised, the frame has been considerably strengthened, the handling dynamics have been improved, the turbo diesel F250 Powerstroke engine is more powerful and tractable and the interior is far more elegant, expensive looking and feeling in the latest iteration of Ford Super Duty F250 Powerstroke

The F250 Diesel Powerstroke Cranks Out The Torque

In previous generations the Super Duty Ford F250 Diesel Powerstroke was essentially the same truck from 1999 to 2007. This was the very first time that the Blue Oval Company gave the F250 Powerstroke trucks in its lineup their very own separate style compared to the more gentle and less rugged styling of the F150 at that time. The F250 Diesel Powerstroke Super Duty trucks have angular styling and an absolutely behemoth grille, which makes the F250 Powerstroke look like a brute with a square jaw as it lumbers down the highway.

The Number 1 Choice Is The Ford F250 Powerstroke Diesel

The number one choice of the true dyed-in-the-wool F250 Powerstroke pickup truck owner is Ford's powerful 6.4L Power Stroke V8 Turbodiesel. This amazing F250 Powerstroke engine generates almost as many horsepower as the Ford 6.8L V10 gasoline engine, 350 brake horsepower, but it dwarfs the V10 gasoline in its torque generation. The F250 Powerstroke Diesel 6.4 Turbo is able to crank out absolutely overwhelming 650 foot pounds of torque.

1997 F250 Powerstroke Was A Memorable Motor

Ford and its pickup truck buyers have come a long way since the1997 F250 Powerstroke which was a very memorable engine and truck combination. The transmission choices in the current F250 Powerstroke Super Duty pickup trucks include a five-speed automatic and a six-speed manual. Of course, in any form of F250 Powerstroke Super Duty, the purchasers can select either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The options available over a decade ago in the 1997 F250 Powerstroke were of course nowhere near as technologically advanced.

Fondly Remembered: F250 7.3 Powerstroke

After relying on normally aspirated diesel engines, the Ford Motor Company in 1993 finally introduced its turbocharged F250 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engine directly available as an option from the factory. The turbocharging changed the entire power band of the F250 Powerstroke engine so that now it produced 190 brake horsepower at 3000 rpm while at an incredible low, barely off-idle 1400 rpm, the F250 Powerstroke engine grunted out an amazing 388 foot pounds of torque which was phenomenal for the time. Although extensive modifications were made to the F250 Powerstroke 7.3L diesel to take on the added stresses created by the boost of the turbocharger, there seemed to be no ill effects to reliability and these Ford F250 7.3 Powerstroke turbocharged diesel engines still ran forever.

The Original F250 Powerstroke 7.3 Was Only Offered In 1993

Pickups are not the only Duramax Trucks. When equipped with the Duramax engine, both the Savanna and Express vans are max rated for a gross weight of 12,300 lbs and can haul up to 9,600 lbs. The 3.73 axle ratio comes standard with the option to add the RPO G80 limited-slip differential to the Duramax. Duramax equipped Savanna and Express models also come with: Underbody heat shield and remodeled forward floor panel; Option to add a high idle switch to the instrument panel; Diesel engine functionality included in instrument display; 145 Amp standard alternator; and Underhood location for primary battery with a second battery mount on the left frame rail. There is a fuel operated heater available which first in the industry to come factory-installed in any full-size vans. This application rapidly heats the interior of the vehicle during cold weather. The system comes integrated seamlessly into Express chassis of those types of Duramax Truck.
