Heavy Haulin' 2005 Duramax Diesel
Both GMC and Chevrolet share the same 2005 Duramax Diesel engines and essentially the same body styles. While the smaller 1500 gasoline powered Silverado type trucks are primarily constructed to have a half ton rating, the more heavy duty trucks like the 2005 Duramax Diesel 2500HD have heavier ratings. The 2005 Duramax Diesel 2500HD has a rating of three quarter tons while a full one ton rating is on the 2005 Duramax Diesel 3500 models.
2005 Chevy Duramax Diesel With QuadraSteer
QuadraSteer setup on the 2005 Chevy Duramax Diesel is quite fascinating as it is a electro-mechanical system which takes the 2005 Duramax Diesel trucks' wheels in the rear and turns them in relationship to the turning of the front wheels. The rear wheels can turn up to 12 degrees from the plane of the 2005 Duramax Diesel pickup truck. This movement of all four wheels can significantly improve manoeuvrability at low speeds and stability while cornering at highway speeds in a 2005 Chevy Duramax Diesel.
2005 Duramax Diesel Specs
Whenever you analyze the tremendous engineering improvements which General Motors has managed to implement into each succeeding model of their diesel technology it is easy to be amazed by the 2005 Duramax Diesel Specs. The 2005 Duramax Diesel 6.6L Turbocharged 8 cylinder direct injection engine delivered 300 brake horsepower and a very powerful 520 ft-lbs of torque when equipped with a manual transmission. If it was connected to an automatic transmission the 2005 Duramax Diesel engine delivered a great deal of additional power: ten extra horsepower for a grand total of 310 and a totally staggering extra 85 ft-lbs of torque for a total of 605 ft-lbs.
2005 6.6 Duramax Diesel: AutoTrack 4WD
Two very different systems to enable four wheel drive operation were available in the 2005 6.6 Duramax Diesel. The first is AutoTrack which delivers all of the 2005 Duramax Diesel engine's power to the wheels in the rear when the pavement is dry and smooth. This innovative traction system in the 2005 Duramax Diesel immediately and automatically is able to transfer the 2005 6.6 Duramax Diesel engine's power to the wheels over to the front when traction becomes more slippery.
2005 Duramax Diesel Engine: InstaTrack 4WD
The other four-wheel drive GM system on the 2005 Duramax Diesel Engine equipped pickup trucks is called InstaTrack. The 2005 Duramax Diesel InstaTrack system is designed that so the driver can shift into four-wheel drive high and back out of four-wheel drive high while the wheels are moving. The 2005 Duramax Diesel driver accesses the transmission via a transfer case mounted on the floor of the 2005 Duramax Diesel Engine equipped truck cab.
2005 Duramax Diesel Problems
The primary problem with the more recent Duramax Diesel has been the fuel injectors on the Duramax LB7 engines but fortunately this engine was terminated just before the 2005 year so it does not create serious 2005 Duramax Diesel Problems. General Motors implemented an extended warranty program for the LB7 injectors, but the problem has also been reported on the LLY engines. The LB7 motors have also experienced a number of problems with leaking head gaskets and / or injector cup seal leaking. The later engine codes LLY, LBZ & LMM engines have not been as severely affected as the LB7 motors and since the 2005 Duramax Diesel engine is usually an LLY that is not a concern. There have also been reports of Allison computer controlled automatic transmission failures stemming from solenoids sticking, leaking fluids, wiring connectors that come loose, and other minor issues causing 2005 Duramax Diesel Problems. |
