Chevy Venture

General Motors produced the Chevy Venture for eight model years that spanned 1997-2005 models. The Chevy Venture minivan was actually quite popular and it replaced the Astro van. Chevy Venture Specs

The Chevy Venture was outfitted with the 3.4L LA1 V6, which boasted a relatively low 180 horsepower. Then, in 1999, it was decided the Chevy Venture needed more power so its engine receive a bit of a makeover so it would be able to produce an additional 5 horsepower taking the Chevy Venture engine to 185 total horsepower. The Chevy Venture also had an automatic transmission that was four speed. The Chevy Venture branched out into the luxury and novelty market by manufacturing a Warner Brother edition in 2000. This Chevy Venture had leather seats, a DVD system, and Bugs Bunny and Warner Brothers logos.

Recent Chevy Venture Models

The Chevy Venture was updated during the 2001-2005 models. It received all wheel drive during the 2002 model year as well as an updated exterior in 2001. The cabin of the Chevy Venture was somewhat narrow, which customers did not care for. The Chevy Venture did have options including all-wheel drive, short wheelbases, and long wheelbases. The third row of seats on the Chevy Venture folded down on the floor.

Chevy Venture Replacement

The Chevy Venture was replaced by the Chevrolet Uplander in 2005. The replacement was still similar to the Chevy Venture, but some important changes were made. For example, it is notable that the Chevy Venture’s replacement had a longer nose. This was designed to reduce the crush distance and make the van more like an SUV.

Chevy Venture Safety

In 1997 the Chevy Venture was awarded four stars for its performance in head on collisions. This was out of five stars and was awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Other model years of the Chevy Venture also resulted in ratings of four stars in the majority of categories although the Chevy Venture did receive some five and three star ratings, too.
