2005 Freestar Is A Safe, Dependable Minivan
When Ford developed the 2005 Freestar from the basis of the older Windstar, the 2005 Freestar offered key improvements in safety, design, seating, steering, performance and ride over the previous model. Front dual air bags, a tire pressure monitor and anti lock four wheel disc brakes all come as standard safety features on the 2005 Freestar. For additional protection, curtain side air bags and side front air bags are offered as an option on the 2005 Freestar.
2005 Freestar SE Is The Base Version
The 2005 Freestar SE version of the 2005 Freestar minivan comes in three levels of trim: Limited, SEL and SE. The 2005 Freestar SE model starts out with second-row bench seating, a third-row bench seat that folds flat, keyless entry, cruise control, privacy glass and a CD player. Upgrade to the 2005 Freestar SEL model and you also get air conditioning in the rear, fog lamps, exclusive exterior appearance package, powered driver seat, and bucket seats for the second row. However, the best value for the money van is still the 2005 Freestar SE.
2005 Freestar Review Writers Were Not Kind
2005 Freestar Review writers remarked that the 2005 Freestar was diminished by its many inadequacies, including awful fuel economy, awkward handling, slow acceleration and lackluster interior. It's because of these reasons that minivan enthusiasts found the 2005 Freestar to be a rather disappointing option. At first glance, the 2005 Freestar interior was quite attractive, but on closer inspection, shortcomings were revealed. Materials in the 2005 Freestar were subpar, second-row legroom was cramped and it lacked versatility. Anyone shopping for a minivan and reading any of the 2005 Freestar Review articles in the automotive press, no doubt found their needs to be better met by one of Ford's competitors.
The 2005 Freestar SEL Provides Extra Convenience
The 2005 Freestar SEL was the first Ford van to offer a third-row bench seat that folded into the floor for a seamless, flat surface. In addition, the bench seat was also reversible to become rear-facing, offering seating beneath the rear lift gate. A very handy feature for those who enjoy picnicking or tailgating at a football game. The 2005 Freestar second-row seats weighed too much and were awkward to remove. Alhough the third-row folded flat in the 2005 Freestar, it lacked the 60/40 split found in virtually all other vehicles in its class. Additional features introduced just one year after the 2005 Freestar included a power lift gate, rear DVD system and heated front seats all of which were unfortunately not available in the 2005 Freestar SEL.
The 2005 Freestar Transmission Is Reliable
Manufactured in Canada, the Ford Freestar featuring the 2005 Freestar Transmission was a solidly built unit. The 2005 Freestar is available with one of either two gas-powered engines; a smaller 3.9 liter that offers 193 horsepower and 4,500 rpm or the bigger 4.2 liter with a max power of 201 horsepower and 4,250 rpm. The 2005 Freestar features an electronic controlled, four speed, auto transmission as standard equipment. The 2005 Freestar Transmission includes an advanced hydraulic design to enable smoother and quicker shifting.
The 2005 Freestar Limited Is Luxurious
The 2005 Freestar Limited edition is top of the line and features power sliding doors, better quality interior trim and upholstery in leather, exterior chrome accents, and auto climate control. The 2005 Freestar Limited was the most opulent and luxurious version of the 2005 Freestar. The 2005 Freestar Limited edition can be found as a used vehicle these days and presents excellent value for a four year old elegant, luxury, option-laden minivan. |
