Cummins MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) engines set themselves apart from the competition by increasing different attributes of their engines, such as cleaner starts, lower noise and better power to weight ratios. There are several advantages to diesel like greater torque for power, improved fuel economy and range, as well as overall durability for the life of the engine.

Cummins 3 engine types

Cummins MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) has three general engine types; Recreational, Commercial and Recon. The recreation engines are categorized as Pods, Inboards and Sterndrives.

Cummins Pods

Pods like the Zeus Pod propulsion system delivers up to 30% better fuel economy, its 15% faster cruise speed and 15% faster top speed. Inboard Cummins MerCruiser Diesel combines industry-leading power with traditional inboard mounting. As a critical component to our power systems, we have chosen a select group of transmissions in each Quantum engine series that have been specifically engineered for maximum reliability and durability — providing gear ratios that enhance the already optimized performance of the Quantum engine. Sterndrives combines the power of the versatility XR Drive, with Quantum engines to set new standards for a wide array of applications, from yachting and coastal fishing, to cruisers and small runabouts. The Bravo X series features an improved hydrodynamic profile, Bravo X Sterndrives also support the Axius® system — which completely revolutionizes performance and maneuverability.

The Cummins marine commercial engines are categorized as two different types, Inboard and Sterndrives. If you make your living on the water you need an engine that handle running all out, carry heavy loads and running long hours. Which is why CMD has developed the most reliable, durable and efficient commercial marine engines.

There is natural apprehension when anyone considers buying anything remanufactured. This is where dealing with an industry leader like CMD takes away that concern. Every CMD ReCon engine, every part is completely disassembled down to the last nut and bolt, thoroughly cleaned and inspected and replaced with new parts if needed. Critical wear parts such as pistons, rings, bearings, bushings, seals and gaskets are replaced with genuine, new Cummins parts. After final assembly, computerized engine test cells guarantee like-new performance. ReCon gets the customer back on the water faster than an overhaul.
