Great strides have been made with the improvement of the exhaust brake, which is now available direct from the factory. By utilizing the turbocharger, the exhaust brake has considerably better control when towing heavy applications like horse trailers and farm equipment. This improvement can be recognized in 2 ways, one is the increased confidence of being able to haul large heavy loads and saving the brakes by utilizing horsepower and turning it into breaking power. This advancement in turns lessens the wear on the breaks and saving money on frequent serving of the owners’ brakes.

Cummins 6.7 Diesel Emissions

The Cummins 6.7 Diesel's new transmission configuration allows the driver to maintain peak torque all the way to 2800 rpm and a full 610 lb-ft peak torque for the manual transmission. A major focus on the modifications of the Cummins 6.7 Diesel is to exceed the emissions standards, while increasing the horsepower and torque.

Cummins is first diesel certified for 2010 EPA

Cummins is the first diesel engine manufacturer to have a product certified to the 2010 EPA heavy-duty engine standards for oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions, making it the cleanest heavy-duty diesel engine available in North America. Cummins fully supports the development of renewable energy sources. This engine's fuel system has the ability to run with B5 Biodiesel as standard. The engine has also been designed to operate on Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel (15-ppm sulfur).

Cummins 6.7 Diesel quieter and low Maintenance

One of the ways Cummins achieved the emissions standards 3 years ahead of the 2010 deadline was by reducing the number of parts. For instance the in-line 6-cylinder product has fewer components over the V8 engines. In addition this engine uses an innovative piece of technology called a High Pressure Common Rail. (HPCR) and still maintain durability associated with Dodge. Taking it a step further there have been several features like reduction in the cabin sound levels to make the Cummins 6.7 diesel engine 50% quieter.
