Other Cummins Diesels

Other diesel engines options were used as early as the mid 1970s although the early stage diesel engines were challenged by the fact that they were underpowered. This was cured with the 1989 launch of the Dodge pickup, by equipping them with a turbocharger. Ever since the 1989 initial roll out of the Dodge pickup, has come with a turbocharger. Now the Cummins 5.9 turbo diesel has enhanced performance and made great improvements in the overall performance and braking capacity.

Cummins Engine Performance

A key to the 5.9 Cummins engine's improved performance is the development of peak torque at low engine speeds, which make it easier and reliable for heavy duty jobs to have better drivability and acceleration and towing. The enhancement of their braking system has provided extra stopping power by utilizing an exhaust brake, which is recommended for towing applications like RV and flatbeds. The enhancements of the heavy-duty features of the 5.9-turbo diesel engines have provided some significant benefits. A few key upgrades to the 5.9 engine is there is a longer oil change interval so you save on your cost of ownership and the enhanced fuel system, including large multiple injections for quieter combustion.
